Is it okay to use a nail treatment oil during nail enhancement applications and removals? Will it cause lifting???
First of all let’s set the record straight, the cuticle is dead skin on the natural nail plate that should be carefully removed before any nail service whether it is an enhancement or a manicure. We don't "treat" the cuticle; it is to be carefully removed. The eponychium is the underlying living tissue. What does need to be softened and conditioned is the eponychium and that is where a good nail treatment oil like Dadi’ Oil will make a big difference!
We know that the natural nail needs reconditioning when using any kind of nail enhancement or polish application. (Note: the natural nail receives plenty of hydration from the nail bed). The problem is that the nail absorbs too much water which makes it overly flexible and prone to damage, especially for weak or brittle nails. Oils protect against absorption of excessive amounts of water and plasticize or flexibilize the nail. So, nail treatment oils will do just that AND SHOULD BE USED DAILY TO REINFORCE THE WORK WE HAVE DONE.
A manicure should be performed before any nail enhancement or polish application. We use Dadi’Oil to pre-soften the cuticle prior to application for easy removal of the cuticle. We also know that any kind of oil or residue left on the natural nail can promote lifting. The manicure and the cleaning of the nail is a MUST!
So, to answer the question, using nail treatment oil is beneficial to the eponychium (the surrounding live tissue) and the nail plate. The cuticle (the dead skin on the nail plate) which is removed prior to the enhancement or polish application receives no benefit from the nail treatment. But, the oil will help with softening the cuticle tissue, which helps for easy removal.
Using oil that is quickly penetrating will be incredibly beneficial to the nail and surrounding skin. In fact, because Dadi’ Oil absorbs so quickly, you can get more of it into the nail plate before you have to clean the surface and apply the enhancement. But, you will need to make sure that the surface of the nail doesn’t have any residue left before application of your enhancement. So, make sure that you wash and thoroughly dry the nail plate. Then, as always, follow the manufacturer’s application instructions for best results. Always use your nail treatment oil as the final step of a nail enhancement application.
MOST LIFTING IS CAUSED BY THE NAIL PREP AND APPLICATION! Famous Names suggests that the nail tech use oil like Dadi’Oil, before you soak off gel polish or a nail enhancement. Apply a small amount around the cuticle area, and then put your wrap on each finger. Because Dadi’Oil penetrates so deeply and quickly, it is now protecting the skin and the exposed nail plate from the drying effects of the acetone. Try it!
